Applied for a Deputyship 6 months ago and was sent a letter asking for more information, which wasn't very clear in the letter. Couldn't get through on the 0300 number to speak to someone. Phone rings for 20 minutes then cuts off. Rang the emergency number instead and finally managed to speak to a helpful young man who explained it more clearly than the letter. If only COP could be as clear in their letters instead of trying to confuse us with the language only they speak. Need more staff manning the telephones.

Disgraceful treatment and if this was a public company they would go out of business. Please make sure you sort out Wills and Power of Attorney so you do not have to deal with the court of protection who are completely inept and incompetent. 2 years after our application they have finally granted deputyship so we can deal with our family member's affairs as he has dementia. However, 8 weeks after we paid the fee for the required bond, we're still waiting for the court order. Disgusting service. No answer on the phone, no response to our solicitor's emails, we've had to contact our mp in the hope he can bring it to a conclusion. 0 stars.

Tried for 3 weeks daily to get through at different times.... rings for 23 mins with no answer and then cuts you off. Appalling!

People, please gets yourselves sorted with Power of Attorney arrangements, so if the worst happens and you cannot make your own decisions, at least your chosen loved one can act on your behalf straight away. It's also far cheaper. I'm applying to be a deputy for my father's finances after he had a massive stroke, it will set me back about £1000, for which I get nothing but stress in dealing with C.O.P. I want to believe some of the delays are due to the Covid-19 lockdown, but 8 weeks waiting for an urgent interim order to be approved and no idea when or even if it will be approved. You cannot get hold of them via phone or email and if you hear by post, it's usually to tell you "you haven't sent this form in, send it now", no support on why or how to fill in said form. Nobody wants to go through the process of applying for their loved one's financial affairs or welfare during a time when they are dealing with the fact that their loved one is unable to look after themselves, we only do it because we want what's best for our loved ones, but C.O.P. make such a difficult process very stressful. I'm having to pay off some of my father's accruing debts from my own pocket, I'm going to go broke at this rate unless C.O.P. pull their fingers out. Dread to think how things will work out if/when I eventually get approved.

Very unhelpful, not fit for purpose under any circumstances. Impossible to get through to on the phone. Utterly useless. They have over a barrel and know it. Disgusting.
