This detailed collection deserves more than one visit, this is my fifth and still I'm learning more about rural life in past ages, before mechanisation superseded manual labour. The forge and wheelwright features are excellent.
Coffee at the cafe was hot, tasty and reasonably priced, however credit card machine apparently not working.
I love this place because of its genuineness and innocence. Run by volunteers and it just opens our eyes to a long gone past. There aren't too many places like this, small, interesting and educational. If you visit Usk try to give it half an hour.
This is a really interesting museum, it has historical artifacts that, depending on your age, you would have had some of these in your home, or come across them at some point. The museum is interesting for all ages and they even have a plastic cow with working udders that the children can sit and milk!
The couple that work there are very sweet, kind and friendly. They even have a lovely cafe that you can enjoy after your visit!
Usk is a beautiful village, I truly recommend a visit to the museum and the village! 😍 😍
A bit of a hidden gem. Great place to spend an hour or so among items that made life easier for rural people in the past century or so. Ploughs, harrows, lathes and other machines and implements through the decades map the changes people have experienced as they worked to make a living from the land.
And entry is free, but you can always put a good amount in the donations box.
What a little gem of a museum, run by totally committed and enthusiastic volunteers. Plenty of objects and displays to see, traditional museum, but, non the less very interesting and enjoyable. Well done to the volunteers that keep the museum operating
Very nice cafe forms part of the complex thoroughly recommended.
