I messaged this superb library I was given all the information I was in searching for, but not without the kind help of the Lady in charge of Local Census and events . I was dumbfounded at the records & there Content during the Census at the turn of the century. I was so happy to hear what was taking place around Town . I am a Lover of our heritage, Last week I Learned that Mc Lean place was where Public Hanging’s took place on where the old social work department stood . The reason I. Contacted you lovely Ladies can help me . My. Other hobby is Metal detectors, I’ve researched it to a certain point that is the Copse of woodland, which I found out the market was Advertised in the London Times’ Cattle Market’ being held in Renton, Scotland, I’ve been finding thick pennies with King - George the 4th I may be mixed up date wise. He seemed to be king around the era of 1890s. If one stands. Away from the Market behind approx the V.O.L.H., the cattle ring is still visible. I was very pleased when I found the event in a LondonTabloid.. I. Would be very happy if you could enlighten me further I would be very interested to know about. Never in a 100 years did I never.thought that little building beside a Telephone exchange would help my craving to find out the Marvellous events this Burgh holds. Being Librarian s you may be familiar with the Local Hero, Certainly Mine. is .A.J CRONIN WHOM BIDED In Cardross or so I’m led to believe? Although any locally known buildings were covert. But just the Description by Cronindidnt need a interpretation to work out where he is describing its name was Hatters Castle was its name of the book. I came across the copy over 200 miles from John O groats, For the life of me I just couldn’t put it down for the simple reason I could recognise where Cronin was describing I could almost see the Content it will always like to know please do you hold any books pertaining to this Magnificent book . I think I’ve taken enough of your precious time Thanking you kindly for being Librarians . May yous have a peaceful day come Christmas & be safe and Lucky during 2021. With upmost regards & Respect . I will be visiting your place of work soon. So if you notice a fellow whom you think is sheltering from the Storm it will most probably be myself and would enjoy listening to any other news you posses. I believe you are very underrated or maybe you don’t know the important role you play in the Community, Your building is a beautiful piece of masonry built by masters of there Craft. Goodnight Ladies, Frank j. Baxter. A Librarian groupie. :) L

Good place for a good book, staff friendly sometimes, use computers, search local history, have a cuppa, and occasionally have famous folk in to talk about there latest books or journeys they've just done
