Useless - only ever hire a car for use if needed abroad as appear to be only company around this area ... cars are fine no problem there but staff are so rude and unhelpful - also uninformative until you get there and they decide to be jobs worths ... do not recommend u less you absolutely have to! Enterprise far better helpful and a great service- just around the corner ... only use this company if for use abroad and you have no other option!

I had an excellent experience with Hertz Stena Line Terminal and Dover really simple and easy, great cars in great condition. Dover Hertz dropped us off at P&O ferries, great customer service very warm and friendly, we will be going with Hertz in the future!

I hired a van and forgot to pay the dart charge. Hertz have been ccharging me £70 admin charge evry six weeks. When I try to settle the charge I am not allowed as it has been suspended. I feel helpless to stop these charges. SCAM!!!! Their dishonesty and behaviour was appalling!

We were moving and decided to hire a small van from here, figuring we weren't going and far and didn't have a huge amount to take. My father, who has much more experience driving a manual vehicle than I do, agreed to collect it. It took him fifty minutes to get back, even though it's less than a ten minute drive. Why? Because they didn't have the small van we'd ordered several weeks in advance and could only offer a much larger commercial van, which my father struggled to drive. They were completely uninterested in my father's proof that was not the vehicle we had booked, telling him that was all they had and could offer nothing else. We loaded the vehicle and it only drove a short distance before appearing to break down. Hertz were, naturally, completely uninterested in helping us and would only tell us to call the AA. It turned out there was nothing wrong with the vehicle, but that nobody present could successfully use its sensitive and awkward manual gear system. Had the AA man not finally given up trying to teach us how to use it and then driven us to the new house, our moving day would have had to be cancelled.
