I just felt I had to share my appalling experience on Sunday at Russell & Bromley children’s on Sunday. We went there as I wanted good service and advice for my 1-yr old’s shoes.
1) I was finally served after waiting for 2 ladies behind the till to stop chatting
2) the lady measured my daughter’s feet and said 4.5
3) she came back with shoes in a 5.5 - when I challenged this she said no she was definitely a 5.5 let’s try them on. I insisted she was re-measured and she was a 4.5
4) she came back with some 4.5 shoes and size 5 sandals. I questioned why size 5 sandals and she said they don’t do them in 4.5 - but the 3 pairs in my hand are size 4.5 I said (they were on the sale shelf so clearly labelled), she argued this and said something about continental sizes not translating and i said but these are 4.5? I gave up. Tried the 5, too big.
5) she tried on the shoes - the lady said she needed a g width so went off to get them. Then came back saying they didn’t have any wider ones in stock so the f will be fine. I said but you went to get g as the f is too narrow so doesn’t she need a g. Yes, but we don’t have any in stock so the f is ok.
I went to John Lewis.
Helpful and friendly staff to help measure my daughter for her first shoes. They also had a variety of different shoe styles to suit.
Love this shop, great shoes great staff and I have a massive collection.
