Hartsdown Academy

Recently hired the new block for a youth engagement programme over the summer and autumn school holiday. The facilities in this new block are fantastic. The open space and the good amount of natural light makes it an inspiring place to be. Perfect for youth engagement. Good communication in the lead up to the hire to suit our needs and requirements. The site team are also very friendly too.

Year 2020 has been an interesting year, and this year is not over yet. As a single mum, this year has been a challenge, but Hartsdown has shined through, and offered me and my family all the support they can. I have 3 amazing boys. My eldest son is in Year 10, he has Asperger’s, so the change in routine, the adaptation to online learning, and then google met sessions has been a challenge. I have had weekly phone calls, which have been amazing, not only are they checking on my children, they are checking on me, to make sure that I am OK. My sons head of year has phoned every week, we are now on a first name basis, he has been amazing, he has tailored phone calls to suit my son and me, and has also phoned me, when I have emailed him saying I need some advice. I am going to miss his weekly calls. Many of my sons other teachers have also been amazing, they have called, they have kept in touch with me by email, and at one point, one of my sons teachers helped us out to get with grips with google met, we had a 3 way call, it helped so much. My son has a mentor within the school, and she has been outstanding. They have all understood my son’s condition, and have tailored everything to suit him, what he finds comfortable, which has been amazing. One of my younger son’s Year 6, is due to start Hartsdown in September, and the support, the emails, have also been amazing. His transition day in a bubble was brilliant!!! He loved that most of the teachers knew his name, which made him feel comfortable, and that he went into the new building before his big brother!! He is so looking forward to September. This has made the difficult transition so much easier. Hartsdown school has been amazing, not only over the past school year, but from day 1 when my son started, they have helped and guided me, not only to get my sons diagnosis, but there ongoing support not only to him, but to me as well as a mum and my family.

Hartsdown is amazing. My child has been there since 2015 and has had a brilliant time since Mr Tate arrived. The school has transformed. They care about individual students unlike schools that are just exam factories. They care about the whole child exams and wellbeing. Thank you Hartsdown particularly Mrs Reeve!

i love this school so much it's amazing that miss Simon's NEVER takes anyone's phones Mr Shenton was a great teacher to until everyone found out he was a furry but now everyone bullys him i also LOVE how unstrict they are about uniform! they don't even tell you to tuck in your shirt and even let u walk around with your coat on! only problem is that I used to see mr Curtis and Mrs rigden kissing in the old computer room next to the old art room

need ac and fans for the heat because of how hot it is they have no fans or AC at all and the students struggle to learn when the HEATING ! Is on during the summer
