The National Museum of Wales is awesome, entrace was free but donations are welcome and it has coffee shop too. Amazing place to go with family. Lots of dinosaurs and natural history so much fun, love it!
Beautiful museum built in Cardiff's golden era when coal was king. Nice collection of Welsh art, popular dinosaur etc exhibits for the kids, and special exhibitions. In November 2020 a moving exhibition of Richard Burton.
I've been going to this museum since I could walk and it's still as magical as the first time I went. The dinosaur exhibit is amazing, with a very clever layout and a stunning array of fossils. The animatronic woolly mammoth is still a firm favourite even if it is slightly more jerky these days!
It's a privilege to be able to see a Van Gogh, multiple Monet's and even a possible Botticelli for free! You'd pay a fortune for that alone anywhere else in the world not to mention the numerous other paintings, pottery and sculptures on display.
A must visit if you come to Cardiff!!
I have been to the museum multiple times but it has been quite a few years since my last visit. Given the current circumstances they have done very well to keep everyone safe while still having as much of the exhibits open as possible. Plenty to see both on the scientific spectrum and the art based exhibits.
Great museum to visit whilst in Cardiff. There were areas about geology/fossils and dinosaurs, as well as the history of wales. Interesting place to visit. I particularly liked the art section with modern art. It’s free entry also which is a bonus. Due to the pandemic, some areas weren’t open, but still had a good time. Museum staff were friendly
