Standlake Post Office

Had a recent stay at the caravan site and called into this place to buy a magazine. Absolute rubbish. This establishment wont serve the needs of the village at all. In the best interests of the village, the current owners should bail and let somebody come in who can meet the community needs, put the essentials on the shelves and become a proper village PO and shop.

Most unhelpful post master ever. Refused to give me ‘proof of posting’ which is every customers right in any post office in the country when you hand over a letter or parcel. Instead I was told “why didn’t you pay me rather than buying the royal mail per paid label online?” to which I replied “because I sold something on eBay and it’s more convenient for me to print the postage label at home”. His reply “well you can take it somewhere else” an absolute disgrace. Wr desperately need this local post office but such a pity it can’t be run by someone that views the ability to serve the local community as an honour rather than a burden...

Rude owner who apparently has no customer service skills. The shop is poorly stocked and dirty. Even the locals shop elsewhere because of his attitude and lack of stock! Shame as it was a fabulous shop and deli with the prior owner, and a gold mine with two camp sites local to the village.
