I attended the open evening last night for the Sixth Form open day for my son. I must say it was a world away from the previous visit 6 years ago. The assembly was robotic and uninspiring and classrooms were crowded and the building is tired. However, all was not lost as I must give credit to the head of Computer Science who gave the most passionate talk of the evening during our self tour.

I am saying this as a year 7 but from what I have seen the school is horrible and teachers are completely clueless. No one knows what our headteacher does and the school is so understaffed we do not really have cover teachers. The school only cares about passing tests and will give you detentions for being 30 seconds late even if your train got cancelled or anything like that. Some teachers are really good, but some have no clue what they are doing and no experience in their subject and some are too overworked that they cannot handle things like coming into their form on time. Our SLT team is meant to be for mental health and things like that, but do not help at all. Skills for life is a useless subject in this school because anything that we need to learn is neglected and we do things like learning to write better because our teacher hates messy handwriting. The school grades are good for some people, but apart from that it is torture and not a nice environment at all. Keep in mind i have been here for 6 months or something like that. I wouldn't wish anyone going to this school and I forgot to mention that some teachers have anger outbursts and call people stupid and swear at them for talking while in the changing rooms
