Really interesting site that I had never heard of! Bravo, Chiltern Society on a marvellous example of a working watercress bed
A triely charming place. It is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Throughout most of the 20th century watercress provided a thriving local business, with distribution as far as Covent Garden. The Watercress beds flow through the whole length of the village from South East to North West.
Nice cosy reserve with pub in close proximity. Spotted an American crayfish in the water which need to be "moved on" as not conducive to the native wildlife. Difficult to do once established though.
