Walk along the north bank of the Thames from Henley to Hambleden and then back along the south bank. Hambleden is a lovely quaint village with a village store, church and pub.

Great place to stop for tea or coffee, pots of tea not just cups, excellent value. If weather is nice can sit outside. Only downside is very limited space inside.

We walked our dog in the village and found this gem of a shop! Homemade local cakes, really friendly staff and we bought the most amazing venison mince. It was like being on a movie set. Highly recommend.

Arriving in Hambleden is to take a pleasurable step back in time. It’s as picturesque an English village as one could only want. Dominated by a beautiful grade II listed church, the center espouses tranquility with all of the architecturally sympathetic dwellings and homes. Then imagine it’s heart and soul, the lifeblood of this village community. Is it the local vIllage pub...quite possibly. Is it the local village store...much more so, most definitely yes! At Hambleden’s center is Hambleden Village Stores. A shop that can only be described as a collaborative effort between the itself and surrounding local area denizens of produce, baked goods, meat/game, cheese, wine and the rest! This beautiful quaint shop is run by the lovely Sarah and her affable team. It’s layout is well considered with all essentials at hand but where it truly shines while setting itself apart, is through the afore mentioned collaborative partnerships. Hambleden Village Stores brings in outstanding meats from Vicars Game. Their wine is offered via Cookham based Old Butchers Wine Cellar. The cheese from Snowdonia, but the gorgeous cakes...freshly made on a Tuesday locally along with the best meat pie I’ve ever eaten! Upon entering, one can not help but feel the reminiscence of an old time shop where you were immeasurably welcomed instantly upon arrival and just felt at home. When leaving on the other hand, if you aren’t laden down with many of the delicacies South East England has to offer, something is remiss! 6 stars... out of 5!
