Ideastores has been one of the first libraries to have a modern concept of combining library and life long services which was a big game changer how public services operate since or around year 2001, roughly. It has been at the forefront of public services innovation for a while. Whilst most libraries are closing around England, Ideastores are still open.
However, due to covid the services are limited and it may have a big hit on the services and perhaps some cuts coming this year.
The library is a great service however the staff there are beyond rude mostly to the BAME residents who have a hard time speaking and reading English. I suggest be polite and record these encounters and post on social media. The odds thing is the staff are BAME. Rude rude rude!

Went in for recycling bags an hour ago.
Waited downstairs in a long queue for the member of staff to tell me to go upstairs and ask staff there. Went upstairs in another long queue for the member of staff to point to a sign when I asked for recycling bags. Not great customer service, not sure why he couldn’t just explain to me instead of pointing to signs. I appreciate you have run out of recycling bags, not sure why especially when the dustbin strike has been booked in for weeks, you should have ensured you had more but considering the current climate we are in could you not just put the signs downstairs near the front entrance or ensure all staff are aware if you have bags or not to save me wasting my time?
That is the most noisy Library I have been in my life. The staff is so unhelpful most of time (not all of them). I was stopped to eat a banana inside but a guy preparing his weed cigarette is allowed to do it inside, I asked the staff about it and he said "as long as he isn't smoking inside... " . What sort of organization is that? How disappointing it is for you to see such nonsense? Loud people there doing wherever, loud kids out of control. I mean you guys have a loooog way to go to make it a bearable library. Computers are very slow, it is all to lose, I even started to question the safety of the place. Overall, a bad administration there, this people clearly need to visit a real library and see the minimum standards required. I will hardly visit it again. I am really sorry that a refurbished library will soon look like trash because people do not treat it fairly well.
