Handy for local shops and car park closest to Waterloo station, but unlike most others adjacent to stops on the Merseyrail network, is not free. Be very careful not to park even slightly over a bay line on that side adjacent to the railway as you'll get a ticket for doing so even if the car park is virtually empty and Sefton Borough Council don't consider appeals with much sympathy, even though the surface in that area hasn't been properly maintained and the markings are virtually non-existent.
