So, I called the vets this morning after my 16 and a half year old lurcher, Archie, had finally decided now was the time to give up walking, eating and enjoying life. We have used this vets for the last 15 and a half years to look after Archie. So, naturally being very upset - he was a massive part of our family and life - the ladies on reception were absolutely superb explaining the options available. So we decided we had to take him in to be put down as he physically could not stand any more. I said we would start to leave our house soon, however our kids were really upset and wanted to say their goodbyes. A short while later Barrow Hill called me to check all was ok, which was great. About 10 mins later I was there with a very old dog! Although being fully booked the vet saw me a few minutes later and we took him in. We placed him on a blanket whilst they put him to sleep with both my wife and I present. Nothing was rushed at all and the vet and nurse were great, explaining everything. Once again, the service Archie received was faultless and i just wanted to say thank you so much to all of the staff who looked after him at the end today....you were so understanding - thank you. It truly meant a lot to us and really made the process much easier.

I have to say these are amazing people. From the vets to the back office they all seem to care about the pets and the owners. My dog nearly died due to poor veterinary practices at a national vet chain. They missed a terrible condition that would have killed my dog. It was spotted immediately by the vet at ashford Barrow hill when I took her for a second opinion. Worse still the other vets seemed determined to cut my pet open which due to the real blood disorder that was missed would have killed her. The vet was only a temporary one and so I worried that the next vet she saw would be as good. But all of them were, they all left long notes and chased up results. They have always been honest and have helped me with getting the best fron insurance as well as alternative advice. I won't name names because everyone has been fantastic. Staff on reception know me and my dog and always give a bright greeting. My dog loves coming to Barrow hill. I go to both romney and Ashford and both are great. She drags me in and silks when she cant get in before other animals. Even after being kept in she was fussed so much she still loves and trusts them all. She is a rescue dog and started life terrified of everything. So its fantastic that she feels so good seeing her vet. Please if you ever don't understand or need more information ask. They will help. If you don't happen to like or feel comfortable with one of the vets just quietly mention it to reception and they will work it out so you see another vet. Not everyone is the same so it's fine to ask and they're large enough to be able to work it out. I've been very lucky and so has my Bonnie. What amazes me is that such a large practice can be so good with the pets and people. Well done to the team at both Ashford and new Romney for being there every time we needed you.

Our Sheba is expecting puppies and I took here for an ultrasound. I saw Iva, she was amazing. She took time and was so sweet and caring. It is clear that this lady puts animal's welfare first. Her love of dogs was noticeable. I would highly recommend Iva and the surgery

Excellent veterinary practice, would be 5 stars, but can be a little pricey. We have had great care for our cats and dogs, even on Christmas Day.

They lied about possible treatment for our dog and then after a costly CT scan denied to give the very drugs they suggested then wouldn't release our dog so we had no option but to put her down. A bullying vet works here. They don't care at all about your dog only your money! As a lifelong pet owner, please for your pets sake do not discount this review and use a different vets.
