18/2/20 Holmer Green A-A Reading City in the Hellenic Premier League. Adult entry £6, Programme £1. Well what a first visit I had to Watchet Lane. Was impressed that the club had announced that there was no need for a pitch inspection after all the wet weather over the weekend. However, on the drive to the ground it was clear that another serious amount of rain was going to fall. On arriving at the ground, there was a small entrance hut, and to the left a small covered terrace made of scaffolding. The only other stand was opposite the dugouts where the main stand contained bench seats. The rest of the ground is open to the elements, with hard standing on 2 sides of the ground, the other 2 are out of bounds. There is a big clubhouse facility available for drinks and food but that is back in the car park and I didn’t have time to visit. Anyway my visit lasted barely 20 minutes as there was persistent rain throughout, but then a monumental hailstorm finished it off. Reading had scored twice in that time but won’t count. I think next time I come it will be in August!!
Decent local team, £6 entry is good value for the level. Facilities are always well kept with great pitches for the first team etc
