Good place to wander around. Lots of free parking though gets very popular at peak times. However it's so spacious it doesn't feel that busy. There is a place to buy coffee and toilets near the car park. Plus a big children's play area. Otherwise just plenty of space to run around and explore.

Lovely park, disgusting toilets.

Exchanted lights event was great. Nice and safe and very entertaining for the family. Parking facilities good and the gardens etc are a lovely place to visit during normal times.

A Hugely popular park, even on the darkest winter days, the Hylands Estate sees 100's visiting daily - with children/bikes/trikes, also fabulous adventure-play areas (free). It's heaven for dogs (most areas permit dogs off-lead, only restraints are in car parks and cafe areas, understandably) and there's always somewhere to be found for quiet reflection. There's plenty of natural open space and wonderful tree-scapes against the vast skies. Be mindful that parking is limited (unlike other country parks in Essex, it's uniquely free to park so undoubtedly brings people in from quite a distance). Currently a Mobile coffee & cakes vendor operating in the car park (long queues but well worth it) and visitors are largely respectful of social distancing.

I've already done this. There's plenty of space and plenty of free parking. Two cafes but I haven't used them recently. Two table tennis tables in the open if you care for a game
