My two oldest children have been attending Kumon at Formby for the past six years. My son started with English as I was concerned with his disinterest in reading and Kumon assisted with his reading comprehension and writing. However, when we noticed how much stronger and faster my daughter was becoming in her mental arithmetic as a result of doing Maths Kumon, we took the unusual step of switching my son over to Maths. The improvement in his maths was rapid. Although it can at times feel like too much of a commitment on top of school homework etc, it is well worth persevering with the course. The daily commitment to 15-30 minutes is a great discipline and helps with their concentration as well as increasingly their confidence and speed. Now they are in year 9 and 7 respectively and finally admit that it helps them with their maths in school as they are ahead of the curriculum and much more confident as a result. I would highly recommend Formby Kumon centre. Debbie as her team give support whenever required.

Both of our eldest children have been attending the Kumon centre in Formby, for the past few years, on the Maths programme. We approached Debbie at Kumon, when our eldest child began to struggle with her Maths at school and we where looking for some 3rd party help. The progress that both our children have made has been very noticeable, particularly in their mental arithmetic and overall confidence in the subject. Kumon encourages work on a daily basis, which usually takes between 5 and 15 minutes. Both of our children now see 'doing their Kumon' as part of the day, and are very comfortable in completing the work. They have also begun to see themselves that the work they do in Kumon is helping their school work. There is no doubt at all that Kumon improves their ability level in Maths. I would highly recommend the Formby Kumon Centre, and especially Debbie, who takes a real interest in the progress of the children.

As a parent of 2 children who attended Formby Kumon centre from 2001- 2014, I cannot praise Kumon highly enough. Both my children struggled with maths right from reception class. Their confidence was at rock bottom and they were reluctant to even try to tackle their maths work in fear of failing. We registered with kumon and the work set for them was in their words "dead easy!", which immediately had a positive effect on their confidence. As the months went by the children found that they were working above the level expected at school. Their teachers noticed how much their maths had improved and they were both moved up in their sets. They both passed their maths GCSE with excellent grades even though they were both predicted 'D' grades. Kumon is a long term commitment for both children and parents and can easily be incorporated into daily life. At age 20 and 17 yrs my children are so grateful to the Kumon programme and to the support given by Debbie Lunt and staff at Formby Kumon Centre.
