Thank you Full metal for professional and fantastic service, I really felt that they went the extra mile to ensure I was kept in the loop and satisfied at all times. Would highly recommend this award winning company to anyone after a reliable roofer. Keep up the great work.

I was introduced to Paul Rawlinson of Full Metal Jacket Ltd as a potential supplier for the metal roofing of my self build, which has three Sydney opera house style roof sections. The house design was the first private residence ever to have been deemed worthy of review by CABE, who were the highest architectural body in the country at the time. The build was featured in a 10-part series for the Discovery Channel (having declined three approaches from Grand Designs). One of my biggest regrets is that I didn’t listen to FMJ Ltd. I decided to go with a different – more local – supplier who sold me on the aesthetic benefits of a metal shingle system, having reassured me that they had done these types of coverings many times without problems. I thought I would get a better service from them being local to me. I asked Paul Rawlinson to quote for the shingle system but he declined saying it would not work on my roof forms so I went back to the other supplier who provided me with written confirmation from themselves and the German manufacturer of the system that it would work on my roof. I took the decision to go with the other supplier rather than FMJ (the other supplier was more expensive than the FMJ quote too). The other supplier installed the system, and all was fine until the first time it rained, when the roof leaked. The other supplier blamed it on everything from the “wrong type of rain” (!) to the gutters, that had been sized for once every 200 year rainfall, filling up, the water leaping a 150mm air gap and then going up 3.5 metres before coming in to the house. Seriously… They seemed genuinely surprised that I expected my roof to be watertight – and this is a specialist metal roofing firm… Despite me originally deciding not to use the services of FMJ, when I approached Paul Rawlinson desperately seeking help and advice, rather than slamming the door in my face, as he had every right to do, he could not have been more helpful. I learned from Paul precisely why the shingle system would not work on my roof and why it was letting water in. The original supplier was not interested in resolving the matter, so I initiated legal proceedings against them, culminating in a hearing at the Construction part of the High Court in London. The original supplier ultimately paid me in full, including my legal fees. Whilst I didn’t lose out financially in the end, it cost me a couple of years’ delay and masses of stress. Throughout this period Paul Rawlinson could not have been more helpful – and I had not even paid him any money at this point. Paul said he helped because he hated it when others in his industry treated customers shoddily. I then appointed FMJ Ltd to replace the metal roof using the standing seam system. When I first saw it completed, I kicked myself again because I actually preferred how it looked to the shingle system… The team that FMJ deployed, led by Chris, were nothing short of artisans. The care and attention to detail lavished on sections of the roof, that would never been seen by anyone else, was a great indicator of the quality of the job. The finish was superb, and I have had no issues at all with the roof since. I could have avoided all the pain and stress I went through if I had only listened to Paul Rawlinson and appointed FMJ the first time around. Don’t be the idiot that I was – if you have a metal roofing requirement, just appoint FMJ and you will not be disappointed. I would never use anyone else.

If this company is based over in Romford then why is one of their vans constantly parked up all day in and around the free commuter parking spaces near Bexleyheath station!?
