Great service! We had some issues with our credit card but Ammar was very keen to help us. He also explained everything very detailed and enabled us to rent the car confidently. And the car was just perfect! I'm very satisfied and can just recommend Europcar.
Be aware that Stansted Europcar will sell you an upgrade in which they:
- Quote the price ex VAT (20% extra)
- Do not make it clear it is on top of what you have already paid

I had worried to rent a car through Europcar Stansted branch after I read many negative reviews here, but they offered really good price for 1-week and one way rental to York.
I strongly recommend you to
... book rental car via Europcar App or their website after registered for Privilege program as you can get better deals.
... prepare and bring all necessary documents with you such as proof of address as I see many reviewers have faced such problems due to this. You may also check Experian to verify your address before renting.
... buy a third party car hire excess insurance if you are a UK resident.
I have returned the car to York branch without any hassle.
Please avoid this firm. Their Stansted Airport desk defrauded my elderly uncle and aunt out of nearly £300 by telling them that as their incoming flight was a little late (hardly a rare occurrence) the Ford Fiesta they had booked and paid for (for a week) had already been rented to someone else.
The conman, sorry salesman, then proceeded to say the only car available was a completely unsuitable Mini. Rather than be stranded more than 50 miles from home, my relatives reluctantly agreed but were then told they would have to pay more as it was an ‘upgrade’. The spiv (who didn’t put his proper name on the paperwork) then added extra insurance they didn’t need.
They thought they would be able to sort out the issue later but had not bargained for Europcar being total charlatans. When they complained to the so-called trade body BVRLA, Europcar changed its story and insisted the original Fiesta had been available but a tall couple in their 80s had requested an upgrade to a Mini.
I know who I believe.
Stansted airport. Service desk opens at 8 am. In an airport where flights land all hours of the day. Flight landed at 7. If you value your time or punctuality, avoid at all costs
