I was represented by John Keddie at Midwinters. He was thorough, knowledgeable and worked extremely hard to get me the best outcome. I would highly recommend Midwinters.

The following is not a review but are facts on how Midwinters Solicitors have treated us. In April 2018, after asking Gareth Gregory for all the papers we have signed with regards to an Assignment of Lease for a retail shop, we've discovered that Midwinters made us sign a 26 page legal document that we were never given a copy of, never have been discussed with us, and was never given a proper guidance for. In response to our complaint letter dated 8th of June 2018, Gareth Gregory falsely claimed that the he "fully discussed" the contents of the Licence at his office on 5th of December 2017.To be very clear, he did not discuss it with us at all, nor we were asked if we have any questions with the Contract that we were committing to. Midwinters wrote on 4th of July 2018 sent by Senior partner Alexis Cassin's PA, " you also state that at the meeting that Mr. Gregory did not show you a copy of the Licence to Assign. This was because it had not yet ( been) produced until 19th of December". Therefore, it begs the question !! Why and how could Gareth Gregory claim to have "fully discussed " the Licence to Assign back in our meeting on 5th of December? How could both parties discuss the contents when Midwinters admitted that they did not have a copy of it until 14 days later? From 19th of December 2017 draft and 2nd of January 2018 final draft up to 5th of January signing , we remember it well, Gareth Gregory passed the back page only of the 26 page legal document and we maintain he never gave us a copy it. We never met again from 5th of December 2017 up to signing on 5th January 2018. We thought that we were signing the Main Lease which we have previously read. We never read the Licence to Assign , was not given the chance to evaluate the conditions and understand their implications. Midwinters denied us the decision on wether to accept or reject the Contract, which when we finally got to read it, we would not have accepted the clause on perpetually acting as Guarantors and would not have signed the Contract. The self appointed Client Care Partner, Alexis Cassin sent us their Complaint Procedures. It says that Midwinters will meet us to discuss the dispute and if not resolved , another Partner will further review the case. None of these took place. We offered to meet but they never came forward nor had the guts to meet with us. Instead, Midwinters embarked on a blame game. Their absurd argument was because we agreed to be Guarantors as per the Heads of Terms, we did not need to know beyond this. Would you as a client sign a 26 page legal document without reading it ?? Ask yourself. That is what Midwinters made us do !! We posed the question to all of Midwinters Partners. Would you as a Solicitor ask your client to sign a 26 page legal document without giving them a copy of it, without giving them guidance, a chance to read, understand, accept or reject its conditions? Alexis Cassin , Gareth Gregory and Hugh Harries collectively did not have the backbone and the decency to answer the question. They kept quiet. It is worth noting that Midwinters never denied not giving us a copy of the Contract. To this day there was NO apology for their wreckless behaviour. As early as 7th of November 2017 we wrote to Gareth Gregory. "We are relying on you expertise and knowledge on these matters to guide us on the whole legal process of the lease". Clearly, at our cost we did not receive that guidance. Be aware !!!
