Europcar Portsmouth Hilsea

Hire car came with no spare tyre, got a puncture then got charged unreasonable charges for a replacement tyre and a damage charge. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY !!!

Not too bad, gave me an upgrade so not bad. Showed the rental person all the alloys were damaged and was told she'll make sure it's put on the paperwork, guess what it wasn't and now they're asking for money. Guess what - won't be using them in future.

Concerned after reading some negative reviews, however service was excellent, staff very friendly and no problems at all

I'm only giving one star as I cant give zero. I booked a car whilst away at work abroad to be delivered to my house. I booked over a month in advance as knew Christmas would be a busy time of the year. The car that arrived was below the class of car I had booked and paid for. I pointed this out to the delivery guy who said no its not its a Peugeot 308, I pointed out to him that the badges on the car said 208!! He told me I would have to phone customer services. He also said that the fuel tank didn't read full as French cars fuel gauges are known for being inaccurate. lol After phoning customer services I was told that as the hire was still active no refund for the difference in class would be paid until the end of hire. I went to the Hilsea office and the two ladies there couldn't be more helpful but explained that customer services were correct in the company policy. I explained that in all the hire cars I have had I've never been down graded if my type of car hadn't been availably. Come the day of the return of the vehicle they were supposed to collect between 11.00 - 12.00 and 12.20 I rang them to be told they wouldn't be picking up till Monday. I explained that transport was coming for me at 12.30 to take me to the airport as I was going back to work. As they well knew as I explained this to them when booking and at the Hilsea office. The Polish gentleman told me well that's in the terms and conditions and that it wasn't his problem. Now I'm back in the middle East and having been trying for 2 weeks to get the money they rightfully owe me back. Being fobbed of with "we need to raise a case" or we have no record of that. A terrible, terrible company with no idea how to run a business or customer services. Will DEFINITELY not be using again!! Update after phoning back several times they have said that they gave me the correct car and that I am mistaken. When I pointed out that the ladies at Hilsea have said that the refund is on the invoice, and that the guy I first rang in customer services said I was due a refund. No no sir they are all mistaken. I will tell you who is mistaken. If Europcar think they are ripping me off £124 they are sadly mistaken. If this isn't rectified by the time I get back to UK they will be sorry. They will know when I'm back as they wont be able to do business that day. I just cant believe these clowns. Have had an email from Customer Services from a John Bautista who has said that the vehicle they gave me was not a downgrade. Accompanied with the email where some attachments to "back up his claim" which clearly show on the invoice that I'm owed £130.50. I phoned customer services and the girl there told me (Listen to this). That I was not given the car that I ordered. She then put me on hold and for 15mins. When she came back on the phone she told me that because I had pre booked the car on the internet that I wasn't entitled to the refund of £130.50. After picking myself up off the floor I was then told that they had closed my case. After further conversation she has reopened my case and has asked me to give her 24hrs before I contact the Martin Lewis show. COMPANY IS A JOKE AVOID!!!

Booking was easy, pick up even easier. Staff pleasant and helpful
