The location of the house, sited on a swelling green grass mound above the river, is very pretty. The house is equally picturesque. 4 alpacas and a herd of black horned goats (?) amuse the children. The garden area is not quite as successful, with a long border and flower beds separated by an apple orchard. There is a pleasant tea room to round off a visit.

Really nice and relaxing walk. Cafe still very good and so nice to have condiments without a single-use plastic sachet in sight.

Stopped for a cream tea on way back from Dorset; sadly all gone but the toasted tea cake was delicious. Lovely gardens to sit in for tea, though.

“After a lovely cycle we headed to the cafe at the lodge having been there lots of times pre- Covid and always loved sitting on the patio with a pot of tea and delicious cake. Not now ! Cyclists are treated as 3rd class citizens sitting in the car park amongst nettles and bird mess under trees with paper cups and no cutlery ? Food is served in paper bags. When asked why we couldn’t sit on the usual patio (as we understood the cafe was ‘open to all’ ) we were informed that ‘paying ‘ garden visitors had priority with the outdoor seating and the car park was now for cyclists. From now on we will carry on pass the Lodge and head to Stockbridge the extra miles will be worth it !!?...very disappointing. “

Very pretty Lodge. Lovely gardens and meadows. Very good home cooked food in cafe. Well organised covid set up. Helpful staff.
