Sandhill is part of the Alver Country Park. From some directions it can be quite a steep climb, but well worth the effort. From the top of this former landfill site you can see as far as Portsdown Hill and in the opposite direction the Isle Of Wight. On a clear day the views are truly spectacular and if you are lucky, there is a wide variety of wildlife to be seen including deer, fox, badger and rabbit as well as a host of birds. In the breeding season it's best to avoid any grassy areas due to the number of ground nesting birds, but it's a great place to bring children and dogs. Some people with walking difficulty may find it a bit of a challenge but unless it's really wet, it's accessable by wheelchair or disability buggy.
