Ashley Hickey painting and decorating

Booked an appointment with Ashley to come get a quote at my new house. I waited nearly a couple weeks for the appointment and on the day I Drove 20 mins to get there and waited for him but no reply. Wasn’t replying to texts throughout the day so decided to the call him for him to tell me he can’t make it. Fair enough things happen so we tried to rearrange and I was speaking to him about what I needed doing then suddenly he said he’d ring me back in 10. Tried ringing him later in the evening but he seems to have blocked my number for some strange reason which I didnt appreciate. Managed to get through to him on my other line but he cut off on me. I was in no rush to get the job done as he told me he would be free to start towards the end off october and I said that’s fine so wasn’t putting any pressure on him but if he was busy it’s not hard to just say “I won’t be able to Do the job” I would have appreciated a straight up answer instead of having me run around and chase you up. This isn’t a criticism of his work, it’s more the unprofessional manner in his approach to the situation and it was a shame because he seemed a nice bloke and knew what he was talking about, but it’s not nice to cancel on others and not to notify them, and to then block them leaving them confused. .................. In response to Ashley’s reply Its a shame ashley has resorted to lies to cover his own back. I would have never attempted to decorate the house myself as it needed skimming and a bit of work done, I am not a plasterer and would never dare to attempt to do this. Furthermore, Ashley touches onto the appointment that we had booked in for which he didn’t bother to show up to and to not even notify me, this was for him to look at the house to have a better understanding of what environment he would be working in and if he had any ideas, not for me to gain advice off him and do it myself. On his point of “not taking no for an answer” you must first tell the customer that you don’t want to do the job, instead of going the other route of not attending the appointment and then claiming you’d ring back in 10 because “your wife is calling you” to which he then blocked my number. I’m going to leave it at this and very rarely leave negative reviews, I still believe Ashley to be a decent bloke and feel he was just stressed with his current workload, but there are better ways to go about this including not to book appointments and then not notifying the other party when you can’t attend.

Not doing it for 3 week

I was recommmed Ashley through a friend after having been let down by another decorator. He messaged me back very promptly and efficiently regarding my bedroom, he came round and looked at the job advising on cost etc said 2 days work maximum and although he was very busy he squeezed me in on a weekend to get the job done for our wardrobes to be fitted. We were away for the weekend so left him a key he did the work to a great standard and left everything as found and also completed the work within a day so charged us less than we originally thought which was very honest and a great way to treat his customers! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommned Ash and will be using him for other rooms in our house! Lovely guy very professional and friendly manner and you wobbly regret using him for all your decorating needs!

Ashley Hickley Painting and decorating have been working for McDermott Developments since the beginning of the year. Since then they have completely redecorated approximately 2 x 3-4 bedroom empty residential properties, from top to bottom, per month for us. Ashley goes that extra mile – he ensures the houses are safe and secure while he is working on them and he gets on with the work in a timely fashion. His work is A1 – and there has never been any cause to complain. Reasonable rates. A delightful company to deal with – we would highly recommend Ashley and his team.
