Poor directions on Google maps!
Wonderful Wonderful Place
Stunning
That's where you start with a word for the broads
We were there for 2 weeks and have returned at least twice a year for the past 10 years
Every time we go we discover another area
From the wildlife of kingfishers to seal's dragonfly to otters if wildlife is your thing then this is the place for you
If fishing is your scene look no further my husband and myself love the variety broads offer
If you are looking for retail the range is village shops to major retail, and if eating out is your thing this area is reasonable in prices and welcoming
We have the envy of having variety as on the boats
Waking to a different view every day with stunning sunsets wonderful place to relax
Worth every penny, a just love the broads
Had an interesting week on the Norfolk Broads! Glorious first 3 days. Went for pleasant walks and bobbed along. Good food. Next 2 days gales, flooded moorings. Tossed around like a match stick. Everything soaking wet. Small boat compared to ours broke it's moorings and headed straight for us. Son managed to grab the boats rope and secure it to a near by moorings. It was unusually bad weather.
For people new to boating and the Broads, relax and take it steady. You don't need to go full throttle and visit every single little river, straithe or broad. Cruise along at a gentle pace and see the kingfishers, dragonflies, woodpeckers and deer. There are marinas where you can not up, get water and the pump out as well as visit local shops or pubs for that special lunch. There are also lots of "wild" mooring spots along the rivers right from the small river Ant, along the Bure down as far as the Yare. Pass people who are already moored up or those that are fishing slowly and respectfully, and remember to keep to the right when cruising along. The Broads are an amazing beautiful place to visit. The locals are friendly and helpful and the wildlife is in abundance.
If going across Breydon Water at Great Yarmouth read the information about tide times and plan ahead, there are 2 low bridges and the current is extremely fast when you go across the open water and into the river, so you need your wits about you. As long as you plan you'll be fine, we had a fantastic time and shall be returning.
