Unfortunately there as my cat was ill and she passed on the way in however I can not fault the service from the initial phone call to the vet letting me know she had Unfortunately passed and even past that point despite covid going above and beyond to make sure I was OK whilst still respecting social distancing I can give nothing but praise to all the staff involved
if they were as interested in the pet as much as they are explaining there pricing / what your estimate will be and can i have your card details now so i can extract a deposit from you that would be great.. Unfortunately that is not the case..Right from the first phone call all i can remember is the prices and do you want to go through with it...I dont care what it costs and my guess is they know it !!.. Like all animal lovers my dogs are my life so when i need a vets help at least show as much interest in the pet as you do the payment..Just before we were leaving for the 52 mile round trip in the morning to pick my pet back up we phoned to see how he was and if we could pick him up, Reply was ...yes he is fine do you want to pay the balance now , it was 06.10 in the morning ..
Tried to charge me over £100 for a consultation fee and medication for injured wildlife (bat that had been attacked by a cat). I said that I would wait and go to my usual vet who treated the animal for free as vets have obligation to treat injured wildlife. I then found out from another rehabilitator that they had performed surgery on and dispensed medication for an injured wild hedgehog for free. You need to have a clear stance towards whether or not you are going to charge for wildlife and you need to treat all rehabilitaters the same, not pick and choose who you are going to charge. The injured bat had to wait 12 hours for pain relief because of the extortionate fees you wanted to charge for a dose of metacam and baytril for an animal that weighed only 4g.
Last night a bat was taken to the emergency vet for euthanasia by a different rehabilitator. It's back legs, tail and entire back end were not moving and we suspected a spinal injury which cannot be rehabilitated.
The vet refused to euthanise the bat and said that it's back legs not working would not affect it's ability to fly.
Bats use their tail membranes to hunt and steer when they are flying and they use their legs to cling onto surfaces when they roost. The bat had a broken spine and could not walk or move at all and dragged herself with her wings to move. It is cruel to leave any animal in that condition, the vet refused to euthanise and didn't dispense or offer the animal any pain relief and left it with a broken spine. I had to collect the bat from the rehabilitator and took it straight back to VetsNow to be euthanised, it's suffering was extended by several hours because of the incompetence on this vet. A vet should be able to recognise when an animal has spinal damage and when an animal is pain and is suffering. We will be making a formal complaint about this.
Very little compassion shown, very eager for your money tho, it isn't the amount of money for an emergency that is to be expected, but the way in which they go about it. Before we could even ask how our dog had got on over night 'are you ok to pay the bill' also Check your invoices as they like to add donations from you without even asking, absolute cheek. Just lots of added unnecessary stress
The one positive was the vet we saw the second time who seemed very genuine and very helpful.
1500£ bill for 16 hours.
We took our cat to this Vets yesterday and they charged us 1500 pounds for a visit where they took a x ray and ultrasound and then told us she was to injured and had to be put down. Ultimately a unpleasant experience dealing with them. Cat was with them for a total of 16 hours.
If in normal hours at our local vets this would have been 300 pounds or less. If you see this know I don’t recommend them unless all other vets are closed
