Bantock is always pretty no matter the time of year, and is generally busy enough that you'll say hello to a few people on your stroll, much like the etiquette when walking canal sides. I drift around attempting to photograph birds a lot, but it's a hot-spot for dog walking which makes it... very hit and miss work pictures, but that's part of the charm.
I'm only 800m away so I visit regularly.
If you prefer a less structured outdoor park than the nearby West Park, this is ideal.
Free to access park around a mile from the City Centre. A valuable asset to the area. The park is easily accessible from all three sides on foot, whilst parking is accessible from Finchfield Road and is Free.
Bantock House sits proudly in the grounds of the park. The house itself hosts a fabulous museum.
The cafe is attached to the rear of Bantock House. Various events are held throughout the year.
A children's play area has all the traditional park rides that children love. A small reminder to stay active and healthy with the outdoor gym near by.
You can take a walk just randomly following your own path but a walk round the edge will see you walk along gravel paths, the small 18 hole golf course and naturally overgrown areas.
There is a "secret garden" that has been opened up over the years.
Areas of Pennfields, Bradmore and Finchfield border the park.
Stepping outside the boundaries of the park you could literally cross the road and fill up on some pub grub at the Bradmore Arms.
Great park with all you’d expect, and added bonuses of a house to look around, café and regular events.
However, if walking your dog here, just be aware that the park is flanked on all sides by busy roads, and especially if you follow the perimeter path, there are many gaps etc that your dog could get through and end up on the road!! 😔 (But don’t let that put you off!!)
Nice park for a wander with your k9 companion or kids. Adult keep fit equipment and pitch and put if you fancy a less strenuous work out, café for tea and snacks.
Park is well maintained and always looks tidy, if you want more there is Bantock House museum in the park grounds.
Beautiful park, building and grounds. It's a very peaceful place to spend a few hours. Swings and roundabouts for the kids. You can feel the history of the place just walking around. Recommended!
