Despite being a long standing and avid NT supporter, this was my first visit to this very popular venue. It is ideal for all the family to spent 2-3 hours strolling through the beautiful woodlands and across meadowland alongside the lake. The earlier higher paths offer some spectacular distant views whilst the much lower valley paths offer pretty lakeside views. Autumn colours abound through Oct and Nov. Reputedly Spring and Summer are equally charming. I shall return to enjoy those seasons. There is a decent sized car park, toilet facilities and a tea room for drinks and light snacks.

Well, a trip in late autumn when most of the autumn colour had been and gone, was still great. My kids both had loads of fun in the play area, and just kicking piles of leaves! And sometimes I forget how much fun they have jumping in muddy puddles :) The big lake overflows into a stream, perfect for paddling in (and washing mud of your boots). All finished of with hot chocolates from the café near the car park. There are plenty of benches dotted around so you can relax and just watch all the wildlife, and if you are a fan of trees there are plenty of unusual varies.

Beautiful place for a day trip. We took the middle route and although sometimes the signs were a bit confusing, you're never lost. We went 2nd week of October which was just before most trees were changing colour but it was still beautiful and would recommend to others for some good exercise (there are some steep hills) and wonderful views. The cafe does great coffee/hot chocolate and sausage rolls too!

First visit here, huge grounds, walked for over 2 hours and at the lake we saw a cormorant, bonus!
