Cole & Winfield Painting & Decorating

We have been really impressed with these guys right from the initial quote through to completion of the works. We had our lounge plastered and then decorated and the quality of work was fantastic. They completed the work in the timeframe agreed and kept us fully informed throughout the process. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them and certainly will be using them again.

Review Update 25/6/19 I posted the review below a couple of months ago expressing my dissatisfaction with Cole & Winfield to try and warn others of my bad experience with them. They responded today which it is of course their right to do even though their response does contain many inaccuracies and some outright lies, but as I say it is their right to respond. They don't however have the right to send me a long and intimidating text from Paul Winfield hurling personal insults at me calling me "Snakey" a "Bitter Man" and someone who likes to scream and shout if I don't get my own way. The text is way too long to post here, but here is just an Exert below: "A very Snakey thing to do, You also fail to mention you were practically begging me to stay and complete the work on the last day. And how happy you were with the standard. Seems you are a bitter man and one that likes to scream and shout when you don't get your own way". Just for the record I wasn't begging them to stay I was trying to get them to compromise and come to an agreement as I told them all along that I did want them to finish the job but it was either their way or no way. This is how unprofessional this lot are, sending me intimidating texts because I had the "nerve" to post a bad review due to their bad levels of service and lacklustre work ethic. I will not however give in to their bullying tactics TREAD VERY CAREFULLY IF YOU CHOOSE USE THIS COMPANY. We have now had the job completed by another company, WP Painters & Decorators who who were brilliant and they even corrected some of the poor woodwork left by Cole & Winfield that we noticed after I posted the first review. Please do not text me again Paul as I will simply print it here and expose what you are really like to the paying public....... We have a reasonably large 4 bed detached house that we moved into recently and the job was to decorate the whole house. We were quoted a total of £4620.00 and told that there would be 3 to 4 people working on it every day and the whole job would take approximately 2 weeks. The Sunday evening before the job was due to start the next day we received a phone call putting the job back by over a week and when they did eventually start work we were getting one and occasionally two workers often turning up at 10 or 10.30am and leaving around 4 or 4.30pm It was really disappointing that there was such a poor work ethic and frankly a laziness in their attitude to get the job done in a reasonable time. The net result was that it took them a whole week to complete just two small bedrooms and worse still the way their deposit and staged payment system works means that they were asking me for more money by the end of the first week which meant I would have paid them over £1700.00 in advance for just two bedrooms being completed. I made it very clear to them that I wasn’t comfortable with this and I wasn’t prepared to pay any more money until some more work had been completed and we needed to agree solution. Their response was simply to say that it is in the contract (their contract does mention staged payments but it is badly written and somewhat ambiguous to say the least) and if I didn’t pay them the next staged payment they would complete the two rooms they had just started and leave. As I wasn’t prepared to pay them any more money that is exactly what happened they completed just four bedrooms in two weeks and I paid them what I owed them and never saw them again. I certainly would not recommend this company even though their standard of work is reasonable as the whole experience was quite stressful and we were never made to feel that they actually gave a damn about the job. As a result of being let down by them so badly we have had to delay other works that had been arranged (floors/carpets etc.) at additional cost and inconvenience.
