Love the place, both Keith and the young lady (who's name we never took) were really very helpful with impartial advice and as much testing/practice time as we wanted to make our decision. All general covid precautions are taken care of and a good selection of instruments. Thanks guys! (P.s. parking available right outside the shop too)

Yes, it's small premises, but the staff are knowledgeable, polite and helpful. They will get you what you need, one way or the other.

I had an absolutely terrible experience at Cambridge Strings :( !!! I am a Cambridge University student and over the past 2 weeks, I had been searching for a new violin bow. There were 3 that I liked, but because the prices ranged so drastically (priced at £130, £500 and £800 respectively), I needed more time to think about them, especially if I were to buy the most expensive one. However, this morning when I called the shop, the male owner basically told me to piss off -- he blamed me for taking too long in trying his bows and he didn't think I was serious in actually buying. As a customer, I was deeply appalled and offended by his attitude and behaviour. Seriously??? Do you think I would spend this much time at your shop if I was not serious in actually choosing the right one? Do you know how much more time I've spent researching about the bows and bow-makers that you've offered? Do you think I would call again if I was not serious in actually making a purchase? And do you expect every customer who walks in to leave £800 to you without pondering and exploring their options? You've just chased your £800 business away, which was probably the biggest deal you would have made this quarter. Sorry, mate. FOR CUSTOMERS: If you were to visit Cambridge Strings, I suggest that you have your large sums of cash ready, for this will definitely please the male owner. If not, I suggest that you visit the other violin workshops in Cambridge, or buy a £12 day-return train ticket to London and visit the numerous strings shops there - they have a far wider selection and for sure better customer service.
