Ambleside Veterinary Clinic

We had a right mixed bag with this vets. Doing the basics seemed ok but could be a bit money orientated and always pushing for another sale. We had one dog neutered and that was ok. We found the lead vet to be a bit grough, well say grough, it was more needing a bedside manner transplant, the other vets were great. Now here is the problem ... flea treatments. We have been sold flea treatments that simply don't work - each time we were told to give it another month, or it must be our house and carpets etc - after 3 months the dogs are no clearer and the stuff doesn't work. More horrifically on the last visit my wife collected the flea treatments for the our 3 dogs - 2 medium sized dogs and a miniature dog. My wife collected them and got into the car when she realised they had given her a treatment with the dosage for a medium dog for the miniature dog - this could have been a potentially dangerous overdose - bearing in mind she was in the car and had already left the surgery. She went straight back in and complained and they did swap the wrong dosage over but she felt she got short shrift. We have decided to go elsewhere after this. It could have been an isolated incident but we felt we didn't trust them any more. Sadly, it is mainly a story of less than average service, bordering on the concerning, peppered with a few ok experiences. Not one to recommend I am afraid.

Excellent service and they don't overcharge. Vet has always rung back to keep me informed. Feels like pet is in safe hands.

Excellent vets, I've used a few in the local area and this one is the best one in my experience. They are caring, thorough and helpful. Can't fault them!

Hard working staff under difficult working conditions, trying to not be part of the covid problem.
