Whenever you can't get hold of anything in B&Q or Home base then you try Mackays and talk to a chap that knows exactly what your talking about that gets the right thing for you.
Amazing and in some ways am old fashioned shop in Cambridge but it is a real gem and had helped me many times, thanks.
Great tool shop, but on this occasion I was ignored in the queue, unfortunately. Eventually went to another till and got served. I ordered on line but wasn't able to get a response to check if the order was ready before I went to collect. Thankfully it was all ready when I got there.
The two times I have been to Mackays and asked for products from behind the counter they have always returned with expensive options without advising me on their range so that I can make an informed decision. It seems that this is a deliberate strategy of the business to increase their profits. Not impressed.
Excellent shop with great range and knowledgeable staff. Will often stock the higher quality items you can't find online.
Turned up at 4:59 to buy some fireworks for my daughter’s birthday, I opened the door to find a very stern looking man staring back who said “you won’t buy anything now we’re closed” he pointed to the clock which said 4.59. I said I though you closed at 5 he said “well it is 5”. I understand that he was keen to close after a long day but I knew what I wanted and would have meant staying open for 5 extra minutes, I didn’t get chance to make my case as the door was closed on me. I had a poor experience and they won’t be getting my custom again and clearly didn’t want it even during a lockdown. Disappointing.
