Lots of space and good value for money when you finally figure out how to pay! Was in a rush to get a train. Tried to purchase a car parking ticket but no machines anywhere to be seen. Apparently you can buy them from the ticket machine but didn't have time to walk back to my car. Tried to register as a new user and this took some time. When I thought I had done it, I received no confirmation. Rang again but the call centre was not easy! Finally went onto their website and then had to book my slot! NOT AN EASY PROCESS for the first time!
Nearly missed my train by having to buy parking ticket with train ticket, then racing back to car to display ticket. Interestingly NCP advertise £8 for day which is what I assume you pay via the app, but the station machine charges £5. The station ticket oddly says the ticket only counts for the car reg on the ticket - no opportunity to input it though. Horrid experience!
This car park is a joke. Signs everywhere advise you to use a cashless parking system (DASH) as there are no manual payment machines anywhere. However, if the DASH system doesn't work properly, or fails to record your plate number, etc., etc., you will get charged for parking, get a ticket and NCP will claim no responsibility for their "3rd party vendor" system not working. POPLA will tell you to jog on as well since it's "your fault" you used a 3rd party payment system. Hey ho.
Apparently you can walk all the way in the station, faff around for 20 minutes with a ticket machine and pay for parking that way, but this isn't advertised at all. No staff around to help/advise.
If it was possible to rate -5 stars I would. Keep in mind if you park here... Make triply sure you have confirmation via email, text, parchment scroll, cuneiform tablet, whatever you can get that shows your payment was successful. Or just go park elsewhere and not give NCP a penny.
Forget the car park!! The station itself the most boring station ever!!! And smallest with only one Costa Coffe shop!!
Never mind the parking, just getting to the station is beyond Google, as it doesn't know that Cambridge Science Park now exists. Google directions to me to a dead end at one of the gates to the Science Park; not good enough!
