Founded in 1584 by Sir Walter Mildmay, Chancellor of the Exchequer to Elizabeth I. The site had been occupied by a Dominican friary until the Dissolution of the Monasteries, some 45 years earlier. Mildmay's foundation made use of the existing buildings.

Emmanuel College, Cambridge is one of 31 colleges at the University of Cambridge. It is one of the wealthiest colleges at Cambridge, and its donation in 2011 was about £150 million. The College teaches all subjects at Cambridge University, with half of the literature and science students. Since 1988, Emmanuel College has been ranked in the top five of the Topkins list (data from the final exam results each year), ranking first in 2003, 04, 06, 07 and 2010. Ranked second in 2001, 02, 08, 09 and 2011.

Shouldn't miss it once you are in Cambridge. The garden is really peaceful and quiet, not crowded with tourists. Lot of friendly ducks and fish there in the lake (if you have food of course...) :D There are a few benches next to the pond. Perfect opportunity to read a book or just having a rest after the sightseeing in the city.
