We visited the Museum on the recommendation of The Tourist Information Centre and boy was that a good recommendation. Despite being small and affordable this was among the best in Britain (and we've visited all the London ones). The museum is a series of rooms which you can walk through and examine (without touching of course) the exhibits. Sound recordings add to the atmosphere and textual information boards give loads of interesting detail of life in The Lakes. It was great and we really enjoyed it. Lovely gift shop too and a little restaurant which was sadly very understaffed the day we visited but the chef did a sterling job of meeting customers needs. Well done him.

Excellent little museum, with individual rooms set in the period. Very interesting & informative. Easy parking & combined entry ticket with the adjacent art gallery. Really worth a visit on a rainy day.

A lovely museum with quite a lot for children to explore. There are some rooms set out in period style and activity rooms also. We had fun with the timeline game in the curators room. As a resident of the area I enjoyed the focus on lakeland life. Well worth the entry price

I went with two of my grand children aged 12 and 9 they both loved it and it gave them lots to talk about. Loads of pay and display parking excellent helpfull reception lady. Cheap entrance fee and the children were free. Well worth a visit.

Interesting exhibits especially the bobbin production and film. Staff friendly and informative. Small cafe served excellent soup and sandwiches.
