Elvaston Castle is a Grade 11 listed stately home with beautiful surrounding parkland, woodlands and formal gardens. This is all set within its 200 acres of grounds. The Castle has fallen into disrepair at the moment and is not open to the public though there are takeout drinks and cakes at the Wyatt Cafe. There are also drinks and ice cream in the car park area. There is a small charge using the car park £1.60 for a few hours. A great place to visit if you enjoy the countryside with a lake filled with wild birds and a nice place to walk your dogs. The Castle is apparently haunted with 4 ghosts 👻
Elvaston is a lovely country park. It's very popular with local people and visitors to the area alike. I'm very fortunate to live within a couple of miles so can visit regularly. Car park is pay and display but reasonably priced. Lovely catering establishment and coffee van. Well worth a visit
Lovely place to wander around. Low cost parking too, less than £2 for 2 hours parking. Could easily spend a day there or like us just stay a couple of hours. There are toilets in the car park and also on the castle grounds. Ice cream van and coffee can in car park, then there is a shop and takeaway cafe located on the castle grounds.
Also dog friendly, lots and lots of dogs!
Only thing I would advise is get there early on hot days as the car park does get full. It's possible to park in the village and walk too as we saw a few cars do that.
Nice walks around the estate and all though there were lots of cars about you didn't feel it was very busy as there was plenty of room to be safe.
It's the perfect place if you enjoy walking as I do. Perfect place for families and children.
Their are toilets allowing one person at one time.
Information and shop. The car park end has toilets also. A ice cream van.
