Great historical place to visit; ask to see the underground room...but be prepared!

I had been wanting to come to the guildhall for ages and was walking past and it was open for free tea and coffee so I took advantage and went in. I found the place friendly and welcoming ascot was their Saturday monthly coffee morning and I didn't know anyone there and just went in to look at the guildhall which is a lovely old building but got free tea and coffee out if going there.

Lovely building, I have walked past it hundreds of times over the years but it was really interesting to be able to go in, it's a bit like a church inside but without the religion really. Just a bit smaller than I thought it would be I guess.

An historically interesting building. A great venue for a meeting or shared space. Not the warmest of venues. Very helpful staff. Awful coffee.....

Today I found Cafe Quirky owned and run by Chris and Jess Spry, offering a variety of excellent coffees at two prices The couple chose Exeter to open their cafe after living and working in France for 7 years. It is tucked in a select corner (below Superdrug, near Primark) and is tastefully furnished with comfortable tables & chairs close to their business van and undercover. At present they are open Thurs - Sat. 8-5.30 and Sun. 9-4.30. Nearer to Christmas they will be open every day - a very welcome addition to the Guildhall. Well worth a visit for a really good coffee or tea.
