Hollywood Bowl Surrey Quays

Lovely place.

Bowling lane was in relatively good shape, and I really liked the auto bumper up/down that could be programmed for each bowler. However, our lane was 35 minutes late, and despite being given a pager that was supposed to bleep when our lane was ready we had to chase it up. We tried to get drinks while we were waiting. It's table service only, but having waited 15 minutes I had to find the waiter who was chatting to other staff. My 'Costa' hot chocolate was beige hot water. I took it back and got another identical one. The waiter then started getting a bit passive aggressive saying when she tipped the first one away it was the right colour. The manager was called and told us the machine was broken so I got a refund, and she did have the grace to apologise. In response to Holly's reply, to make this venue five stars, please make sure that the tables are checked for new customers every few minutes, make sure all staff are aware if a machine breaks (sticking a label on it could work), try to ensure lanes are available for when they're booked, and if you issue pagers to let customers know when a lane becomes available use them. Writing it out makes me feel that staff are not being trained to treat customers the way that they might like to be treated. Either procedures are not in place, or they aren't being adhered to.

Attended this venue yesterday. For the bowling experience and bowling/arcades staff I would give 5 stars. For their dinner and staff serving it, COVID-19 cleaning procedures and eat out to help out offer, I would give zero star if I could. Beef burger was dry and on dry bun, portion of chips , about 15 french fries. Gov. Website says no minimum spend for eat out to help out, they say you need to spend a minimum of £10 to qualify. Most tables were left uncleaned even long after use. Toilets could be cleaner. BOTTOM LINE, OK FOR BOWLING BUT MAYBE AFTER COVID-19. YOU'II BE BETTER OFF EATING SOMEWHERE ELSE. WE DIDN'T USE THE BAR BUT IT SEEMS MUCH BETTER THAN THE DINNER SECTIONS.

As I said in my survey, it was an amazing experience. Staff were helpful and welcoming. I had lots of fun and will definitely revisit again soon and recommend this place to others.

The furnitures could do with a makeover. There wasn't a lot of balls. The arcade was fun for the kids and they enjoyed it. The service at the counter was slow but overall it was an ok experience.
