Lovely station and great cafe.The guys here are doing a tremendous job relaying tracks on the old Somerset & Dorset line.A small museum and a book shop about the line is always worth a visit.Good stop for refreshments for any one using the Trailway.
The Trust is based at Shillingstone station and is responsible for the operation and development of the site. Run by volunteers the website gives accurate information on opening times and what can be found here. There is a car park next to the station so it's easy to access.
The current aim of the Trust is to extend the line northwards and eventually get to Sturminster Newton and so offer services to the town.
The station building is well preserved and the cafe serves hot food, very welcoming on s cold day.
This is a little slice of the old Somerset and Dorset Railway and well worth visiting and supporting. Don't miss it if you are in the area.
Interesting railway centre. Will be a 5 star attraction once rail loop is completed.
