We visited this museum specifically to see Elton John's boots from the film Tommy and what we found was a great museum!
Lots of interesting historic shoes together with other local based displays and artifacts.
Highly recommended if you happen to be in the area.
Good displays ,but undergoing a refurb until 2020/21
Closed for refurb but I got a sneak peak and it is going to be amazing. 👍🏻
Northampton Council, Museum Directors and perhaps the whole of Northampton would all seem to be living on a different planet to the rest of the worlds population when they decide that a 'shoe fetish culture' is more important that preserving wonderful ancient artworks of which they were only temporary guardians (as they were donated to the community in perpetuity) for public viewing and sell them off like Del Boy and Rodney!
Why can't I give this museum less than one star?
Went specifically to see the show exhibition and loved it! Very informative and loads of shoes on display. Examples from across the world, from 18th century China to the Spice Girls, via an elephant boot from Hannibal's crossing of the Alps - something for everyone!
