AVOID - SCAM / FAKE DAMAGE CHARGE. Returned vehicle to this Avis location and requested an Avis representative inspect the car with me. Despite there being no other customers and two Avis representatives at the collection/return counter, I was informed no Avis representative was available to check the car with me. An hour and a half later, received a call from Avis informing me I had returned the car with a flat tire and would be charged for the damage; I asked to speak to the location manager as I would not have been able to drive the car 8 miles, to return it, with a flat tire, but was informed he was not available and the manager does not return customer calls. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS AVIS LOCATION.

Avis Budget: although we had to wait almost one hour to collect the car due to the lack of staff, the Italian lady in the counter was very helpful and friendly with us. They gave us a bigger (and stronger) car because they didn't have the one we chose for the same price. Apart from the long wait, everything was smooth.

CHECK FUEL!!!!!! Just like JF below I have been ripped off by Avis. Tank half-full when I picked the car up. I didn't notice straight away because they 'upgraded me' because they had a shortage of manual cars. The car they gave me was an automatic which I'd never driven before and so I needed to get used to it. When I noticed the fuel gauge I took a photo. I returned the car the way I collected it (half full) but of course they charged me. I spoke to somebody at Avis and sent the photo but have had to ring again because of no follow up. Really disappointed with Avis and really don't think they have taken me seriously, so be aware or go else where!

DON'T USE THIS COMPANY. I'm still waiting for a damage report for a stone-chipped windscreen. Customer services unfit for purpose. They promise/escalate/blahblahblah and nothing happens. I'm trying to claim back the £600 they took from me from my insurance co. but can't until I get the damage report. This must happen all the time, so why can't they deal with it. First AND LAST time I use AVIS. UPDATE: DESPITE FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS TO DM THEM IN THE REPLY BELOW, STILL NOTHING. DON'T BELIEVE THEY'LL SORT SIMPLE ADMIN PROBLEMS OUT. AVIS ARE NOT WORTH THE AMOUNT OF LABOUR YOU'LL EXPEND TRYING TO SORT STUFF OUT. I SHOULD INVOICE THEM FOR MY TIME AT MY DAY-RATE
