My cat had a little holiday at cottage garden cat's, she had a lovely time and came home a very happy little girl. Alyson and the team were really helpful and very safety conscious during covid... Would highly recommend and will definitely use again.

We have used Cottage Garden for the last 14 years with the same cat and have always received excellent care with Alyson always willing to go the extra mile to make sure we are happy and our cat is well looked after. I now go out of our way to take our cat here as know she will be well looked after as she gets older and requires extra special care, which is always adhered to. Location is lovely and the houses are much larger than what you will find in other catteries, with a snug and quiet indoor area and an external part of the run for the cat to sit out in and watch the world go by. Hopefully will continue to come here for many years to come with the old girl!

Can’t fault the care that Alyson and her team offer, I have always felt like my cats are treated like they are some of their own. Lovely location and great size boarding houses. Highly recommend.

My cat had to be put down after having her in their care. I had trouble finding a cattery in my area who would administer shots to my diabetic cat, I chose this cattery because Alyson Hall claimed she had experience with diabetic animals. I started using this cattery last year and all seemed above board. She was costlier than other catteries and we had to supply our own high end brand of cat food for our finicky eater, without any reduction of cost and pay for her daily shots, also she was further away than we liked to travel but we did it because we thought our cat would be given the best care here. She even had a spot right next to the office where she claimed she would keep an eye on her. This year we started to notice a decline in standards of care. More often than not our cat would come back feeling like skin and bones having lost weight during our time away in their care. We never questioned their standards of care as they always had some answer like she was being particularly fussy and we knew that she sometimes had to be hand fed at home, which I wasn’t expecting them to do. We always managed to get our cat back up to her usual weight though. During the last two stays, which were only a week apart, we noticed when we brought her home after the first stay of only four days that she lost weight. We were going through a hot spell and she was being her usual finicky self. We managed to increase her weight with us during the week before delivering her to the final last stay at this cattery. It was not done though without some trepidation and red flags. First off, the cattery was packed. This was the month of August, so no surprise there. Second, she was not put in her usual chalet next to the office. I was a little worried about this but Alyson breezily said she’ll be fine here, three chalets down in the shade and she can watch the doves. I had been doing research on the effects of giving pets and even fish in your pond, water from the tap (in the case of fish, it can be deadly if you don’t treat the water first). I found out that she uses unfiltered water straight from the tap. She placated us by saying that she’d make sure my cat got bottled water. As we were leaving that day on our 2 week trip, we had no other choice but to leave her there, hoping she was in good hands and could handle this heat wave. We arrived a day late picking her up as the arranged time for the last pickup in the afternoon, we couldn’t make. When arriving we saw Alyson over by the kennels and I waved to her and she waved back. We then met with one of the helpers at the cattery to pick up our cat. Immediately she told us that our cat hadn’t been her usual self. She’d been staying in her bed and not wandering outside her room as usual (This room is in effect a closet with a cat flap. In this heat it would be like being stuck in a hot closet for any animal, never mind an at risk animal). She told me that Alyson wanted to speak to me about our cat. She went on to say she’d been finicky (as per usual). She also mentioned something about her insulin dosage, to check her blood sugar when we got her home, which I was already intending to do. The helper got her to come out of her bed and placed her by her carrier. I picked her up to put her in her carrier and thought she felt light. I noticed her brush was unused and right where we left it and her fur was unkempt. On the way back to the car she kept losing her balance in the carrier. Alyson never came to see us, never called. We called the vet first thing in the morning because of the state she was in. Vets diagnosis was kidney failure due to dehydration. When we confronted her in an email, her response was to blame us for being a day late in picking her up and her needing special water. This tells me she neglected her for at least 24 hours without food and water in deadly heat. We’re absolutely devastated to lose our beloved pet in this way. Alyson refused to refund stating her terms and conditions yet overlooks that she is also responsible for seeking veterinary care for an animal in her care. Avoid!
