Only the grounds, shop and cafe were open but not the house as yet due to covid restrictions. Having said that though the grounds were well worth the visit and immaculately kept. The walk by the river was really lovely with the sun shining on the peaty fast flowing river, we got some great photos. Had lunch in the cafe which was very tasty. The castle looks spectacular so will definitely have to some back to see inside. What a place to live!

We had a lovely day even though the castle was closed, the gardens were beautiful and there is a lovely walk along the river. The staff in the shop and cafe were very attentive and kind, the gardeners were also very knowledgeable and willing to help with problems we have in our own garden.

Beautiful place, very peaceful and gorgeous walled garden. Definitely go down behind the castle to the woodland walk and river. Allow a good 2-3 hours to do it justice. Shop and cafe both lovely and Covid provisioning excellent.

Interesting castle- kind of broody and fits in well with the backdrop of Scotland and the history that the Cawdors have. It was probably the first more modern castle that I saw- the inside was definitely updated with new touches and felt like someone loved and cared for the place and had their own personal take on how it should look. Photos arent allowed, since the castle is used 6 months out of the year as a residence. Also looks like they have a good sense of humour based on the art I saw! The guides are really well informed about the castle and the family, happy to take you through old and new history and there's lots of placards around the rooms- someone with a good sense of humour wrote those too! Loved the history of when and why the castle was built and also the remains that were found in there. I do recommend this place from a sensationalist historical perspective- and also to see the way one can breathe new life into an older castle.
