I can’t say enough about how wonderful our experience was with Global Mamas. They were very flexible with us on scheduling a batik and drum class, as we were coming from Kakum Park, and didn’t know our arrival time. My partner and son (4) did the drumming class, and it was held in an awesome roofless old building with some really neat graffiti. The class was fun for my little one, and when he tired out, my partner was very challenged to learn more complex beats. My daughter (7) and I did he batik. The class was in a rustic building near the Cape Coast Beach Restaurant, on the beach. We got to select our large foam stamps, and they already had the wax and dye heated and ready for us. (As we started, an earlier group of young women arrived to collect their dry fabric. They said they had a great time.) The teacher (sorry I can not recall her name) worked with an assistant- and they also produce the beautiful batik fabric for the dresses and clothes at the Global Mamas store. My daughter selected her stamp of a heart, and I picked a flower design from more than a dozen options. The teacher dipped the stamps in the hot wax and showed us how to get started with a row, and then helped us apply the stamps in whatever patterns we wanted to try. My daughter, who loves all art, really enjoyed it! Then we were taken to the dye area to choose a color. The fabric came out a deep vibrant blue which we loved. Anyway, they rinsed the wax and hung it to dry. We ended up taking the two pieces when still wet, as we had to head back to Accra. The lessons were a fabulous experience in a beautiful setting. I’d highly recommend the classes at Global Mamas for families or anyone. I was reluctant to take a class given they suggested the length was three hours- in reality, the timing and duration is really flexible, which was a big perk for us.

Had a wonderful experience at Global Mamas earlier this week. Booked a cooking class for 2 PM after our tours of the castles. Showed up a bit early and they accommodated us. Mama Essi’s kitchen is a short 10 minute walks away from the store front. Essi was fantastic. She taught us to make Palava Sauce with boiled yams and Red Red with fried plantains. Both were SO good! Highly recommend this experience.

I took a cooking class with Global Mamas in Cape Coast this Spring. It was great. The staff and instructor were incredibly friendly and social. I learned how to make 4 different dishes in one class, all of which I still make at home back in Canada. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Friendly and fun (we've had a drumming and a headwrapping class). The classes and products are a bit expensive, but the quality that you get is great.
