I'm quite torn when reviewing this place. Firstly, I have to declare my bias as I am in no way a fan of Zoos. Saigon zoo is nestled amongst an impressive botanical garden and features some impressively large trees and picturesque walking paths. On the whole, the animals I saw were in reasonably good shape. They were well fed and seemed healthy but, and this is a big but, many of the enclosures were not adequate for the type of animals housed in them. The lion and tiger enclosures was particularly distressing and the bear enclosure, although open and landscaped with waterfall etc, was small. The price was very economical and the if you can get past the fact that it's full of caged animals the gardens are very pleasant. Can't really recommend this place except to say that without paying customers there is no money to care for the animals.

Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens, a weekend getaway for city families. A place where young children can learn and explore the rich animal world, as well as the unique flora here. As a long-standing old botanical garden in Asia, this place also has a very unique architectural value. The campus also houses a temple for Hung Kings and a museum of Vietnamese history.

Nice place to visit and relax. I would like to come late in the afternoon so it would be less crowded. Animals are taken good care of, and I love that there are a lot of plants. Air is clear. There is also a history museum in the area, which holds occasional cultural events.

I've been to Saigon Zoo twice in the last two years. I'd urge every adult and child to go there, grab a free map, go everywhere, and see everything. Take some small bananas to hand feed the monkeys, a fan, a camera, and some water, or Revive. The zoo is clean, spacious, and there's a plethora of animals living there. The living conditions for the animals are improving although the food outlets have diminished thanks to the Wuhan Bat Flu.

Quite a huge place to walk around, there are definitely a lot of animals to look at here. The only downside is the quality/maintenance is not high due to the fact that this zoo is state owned. The price is cheap though so it's ok to visit here often.
