We stayed at Stone Mountain Park because we had to attend a function in Atlanta and needed a nice place to camp nearby. I tend to prefer state or local parks to private campgrounds in most cases. It is often difficult to find a scenic place to camp near a big city, but Stone Mountain is definitely an exception to that rule. Although we were only there two nights, and it was cold and wet for most of our stay, what we were able to see made us want to stay longer and explore. In fact, the lake with the mountain in the backdrop created a very serene atmosphere. The site we had was pretty level, although we saw many that were not, and the full hook ups were nice. However, because of the way that the concrete pad was constructed, it was almost impossible to screw the sewer elbow into the ground connection. After some choice words and creative maneuvering, I got it in well enough to ensure that it would not come out. The cable TV was fuzzy on some channels, but that seems to happen often. The wifi worked fine. I did not use the comfort stations, so I cannot comment on them. But the camp staff that I encountered were very pleasant and helpful. All in all, I would recommend Stone Mountain Park as a good place to camp if you are looking to explore a scenic park as well as Atlanta and its surroundings.

Review is on the attraction park and not the hiking. The good things are that the employees on my visit were friendly and knowledgeable. The bathrooms were clean. The attempts at social distancing were nice in most areas. Plenty of parking all over the park. The bad things are everything else. The attractions themselves were okay but not worth the price of the tickets even when we bought them for 20 dollars each. Buying online also adds a 2 dollar fee for each ticket and for parking. Took only about 3 hours to finish all the attraction. The food is typical of these places, over price and tastes pretty bad. The pizza was okay and probably the cheapest because you can buy a big box for around 20 dollars. At night its a huge crowd of people everywhere and can't even move. The 4d ride is a let down compared to other places. All you get is a hair full of bubble/soap with occasional little rumbles of the seat. The worst part was the pictures with Santa. Prices were high for the quality. The preview of the picture showed one side to be blurry and the other side was clear. We bought it because it was our only family picture for the year. Every picture we got were blurry on the entire photo. Became worst quality than the previews shown. The picture had to be cut a lot to even fit in the frame they provided. Overall my daughter had fun spending time with the family so it was a good trip. Probably will not be spending the money to come here in the near future.

Awesome park.. first time in a yurt. We enjoyed having coffee on the deck and watching a blue herring catch fish. Light show was cool and kids loved the ski lift. Also, not too far from the Coke museum. Definitely worth the trip.

Steep, slippery when wet! This how I would introduce this mountain. Worth the hike, wear good nonslip shoes, flip flops should not be worn! For those who are in good shape, this is for you. If you are looking to improve your athletic skills this is also for you......a way to challenge yourself. There is a lift if hiking up the mountain is completely not for you. The park is filled with other attractions! There are lakes at the base of the mountain. Fishing and boating is available. Biking trails are bountiful. Beautiful small town is quaint and charming. Go!!!

Awesome place, come to the Christmas events and you will not regret it!!!! They have fireworks, laser shows, tons of lights, the train is pretty cool where they tell the REAL Christmas story in a western-looking town stop and have lights that you go through as it rolls around the mountain. They even have a synchronized light show and 4D theater with polar express and some other shows throughout the day. You can also walk up the mountain path to the top though it is pretty foggy up there usually.
