A small museum but really worth a visit, especially because the staff were extremely helpful, providing lots of interesting information and telling us fascinating anectotes, which gave us the feeling that history was coming to life again. We were also given some good advice on what to visit in the next few days. We thought it would be a short visit but we spent nearly two hours there, really worth a visit.

Really engaging museum. Three seperate buildings. Lots of history and who knew Tain was a place of pilgrimage. Staff are happy to explain the history of silver making etc in Tain. Recommend a visit if you are in the area.

A Great couple of hours spent here learning about the merchants and mercantile trade of Tain. Just completly out of the blue I found out that Patrick Hamilton was burnt at the stake for being a protestant in the 16th century(On my mum's side of the family we are connected to the Hamilton Clan). There is a Chapel with wonderful stained glass windows and memorials to people connected to Tain. At the far end of the property is a sign pointing to "Museum" where there are some artifacts for closer viewing. The price is three pounds fifty and you can go into the three buildings as often as you like, You must keep your ticket though.
