We enjoyed a spacious and comfortable room in their octagon out-buildings, and we loved the view. On Columbus day weekend, lots of stuff was already closed and we were not allowed into the Asticou Azalea Gardens or Thuya Gardens.
. I don't know if this was special for today or if that's just the way it is now, but breakfast was pathetic. We got vending-machine bagels and muffins in crinkly plastic packaging. No juice. No fruit. One variety of yogurt. Free coffee. This could be the most limited hotel breakfast I've ever had. It was better in that crummy dive I stayed in once in Hayward, CA.
. Aside from the breakfast and grumpy desk clerk, things were generally nice. I used to stay here regularly, so maybe I'll give them another shot. But you do have choices, so look around.
Room is not within main building. I was very dissatisfied with this. Feel as if you are in Aunt Emma shed. The floors are so pitched you trip as you walk in the room. You can hear through the walls as if the other people are in your room. No control over heat, no heat in bathroom. It is clean and tidy. Not the resort I was inclined to believe it was.
Arrived after driving all day to find out our room had a "maintenance issue" and no other rooms were available. Front desk sent us packing. Didn't even bother calling earlier in the day so we could book a room somewhere else before things filled up on a Saturday night.
Fantastic setting. Great food. Not cheap
Delicious meal today. Glad the Asticou finally opened. Came in and enjoyed a delicious Waldorf Salad with a Salmon filet. Cooked fantastically and the salad was very tasty. Worked here in past seasons and glad to see they are doing well in this weird time. Keep up the good work y'all.
