Blue Island Divers

There are so many great things to go over. The facility and equipment are top notch. We chose to rent regulators and BCDs. I had zero safety concerns while using any equipment we rented there. What truly makes this dive shop stand out are the people. Maria Vasquez is the face of the shop. She speaks fluent english and knows the business of the shop. She is also an amazing hostess. She makes you feel cared for while efficiently taking care of everything you need. Her smile is one of the great memories you will take home. Our captain was Samir Valerio. He pampers you, playing music serving watermelon, and making sure you relax. He is also the most conscientious captain we have ever had. We never had to wait for him to find us when surfacing from a dive. I never doubted we has a guardian paying attention from the boat. Daniel Giraaldo was our dive master. Hi is the most observant dive master we have ever had, adjusting our dive weights over the course of a couple days until we were enjoying the best buoyancy and balance we'd ever has with greater than 200 dives between us. He showed us the reef both big and small while taking some incredible pictures. His positivity, professionalism, and demonstrated commitment to the safety of his group make him one of the best dive masters we have ever had.

Eric and his dive shop, Blue Island Divers is a secret gem in paradise! We were greeted day one by his staff including the host Maria, who right away made us feel welcome! We never dove before and we're just using the place to stay while we visited Roatan and it's many sites. Several days in we decided to take the plunge and try a dive. The team including Danny and Samir were professional and patient with all of us as myself, my wife and two daughters took our first dive! Everything by the way of beaches are close by with most sites about a 15 minute drive from the dive center, including the airport. We never felt unsafe as there was security there 24/7. There are great places to snorkel right off the shore and the staff has kayaks on hand to let you use to get out there if you chose to do so! The one thing you must do is pack some big spray or pick some up while on island, the sand fleas can be ruthless at night but not so bad during the daylight hours! Other than that do not pass up the $6 fish tacos at the Salty Mango (resteraunt on property) along with the $2 cervesa at the dive bar! Everyone is safe with covid and there are little to no cases on island. One thing to mention if you chose to do your test with Anthony's key resort to come back to the US, beware, it is a real deal test, with a full up the cavity swab on both nostrils (very unpleasant). We also found errors on the paperwork including our daughters age and the date the test was performed. This all needs to be 100% accurate before you leave the island or else they won't let you board the aircraft. Other than that, get down there and ¡disfruta la isla!

Best scuba experience in my life. I have done several discover scuba courses in MX and the Caribbean. Not only is the staff great and knowledgeable when it comes to scuba, the ocean life is spectacular here. It was the most corral life I had ever seen. The sad part was seeing how the cruise ships shred their plastic trash and dump it in the ocean. The other downside was the sand flies. Bring bug repellent.

Wow, what a great team of professionals. Karim is super knowledgeable, experienced, qualified and patient! He is very affirmative and supportive. The entire team seem to love what they do and work so well as a team together. My wife and I felt super safe and confident learning scuba with them from start to finish. We did the book learning online at home before we came and it worked very well and we have the worst internet service and still it was a breeze. I was a bit nervy about diving bit Karim took is through confined water training in such a clear and systematic way that it was like baby steps. Such that I felt very comfortable in the open water training. Thank you Karim, Michael, Samir and Danny. Kudos to Eric for assembling such a fantastic team.

We booked a 4-hour snorkeling tour with BID for our party of 8. Eric was prompt and accurate with information in advance of our trip, and our day's guides Samir and Sherman (the boat diver) were great on-the-spot. Wind prevented snorkeling on the north side of the island, but Samir and Sherman were able to find excellent, quiet spots on the reef on the south side. We snorkeled at two sites (we tried a third but visibility was poor) for a total of 2.5+ hours in the water. The remaining time was spent touring the mangroves and various bays and inlets. In the water, Samir was attentive to our group's members as needed, though he was a little speedy at first (we like to linger and straggle). He pointed out trigger fish, parrot fish, tangs, eels, a ray, and even a sleeping young nurse shark. We got a strong sense of environmental responsibility from our guides and the company. We were grateful that Samir and Sherman showed us also parts of the island that are not touristy. Our one lament is that we weren't specific about what we wanted to eat.
