Background Santa Rosa de Copán Regional University Center The History of our University Educational Center dates back to the year 1986, beginning its work through the CUED Distance Education System. The first facilities where the CURSRC worked was at the Jerónimo J. Reina School, then we moved to the Manuel Bonilla School and the Álvaro Contreras Institute, being one of the last physical facilities those of the Western Regional University Center (CUROC-UNAH) until the first 2013 period. It was until September 10, 2011 where concrete actions for the creation of our Regional University Center begin to be carried out with the laying of the first stone thanks to the will and management of the Master David Orlando Marín López, municipal authorities and living forces of the city of Santa Rosa de Copán. In 2012, the first stage award processes are carried out, starting work in the middle of this year. This first stage ended in April 2013, with an initial investment that exceeded 14,000,000.00 lempiras. During the year 2013, the construction of the second stage that would comprise the classroom building N. 1 is undergoing a bidding process. The adjudication of the new construction was carried out at the end of 2013, beginning the work in February 2014 and finishing it in April 2015. From the year 1986 to date our Regional University Center has graduated 712 new professionals distributed in the following careers: • 482 graduates in the Social Sciences degree • 86 graduates in the Natural Sciences career • 41 graduates in the Mathematical Sciences degree • 52 graduates in the Food and Nutrition Security career • 51 graduates in the Home Technical Education degree Currently, the Regional University Center of Santa Rosa de Copán has managed to establish itself in the west of the country, achieving an annual increase in the enrollment distributed as follows: • 340 students in the classroom system • 800 students in the Distance Education System • 375 students in the Lifelong Learning Program Some of the careers offered by the CURSRC in both systems and programs are: • Face-to-face System (Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences, Natural Sciences and English Teaching) • Distance Education System (Bachelor of Teaching Spanish, Mathematical Sciences, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences) • Lifelong Learning Program (Bachelor of Basic Education, Educational Informatics and Educational Administration.). Our CURSRC, offers the student population a comprehensive training by having a Computer lab, a Library, Address, Registration Area, Academic Coordination in each of the careers and personalized attention through the Directorate of Student Services.
